Prompt: Think of a moment today when someone you were helping showed you something about themselves—a strength, a laugh, a quiet determination—that reminded you why this work matters. What did you notice, and what does it mean to you?
One of the best parts of working with volunteers is getting to see people try new things together, whether they are stepping into something unfamiliar, learning alongside others, or cooking enough food for 40 people. You can see the satisfaction, joy, and ownership they feel when the work is done, because they know they have accomplished something real. Even in a small way, they have made an immediate difference for a community in need. Watching volunteers light up in that moment is one of the most meaningful parts of the work.
