Background Checks Are Here!

Background checks are now on Kynd Hub

We’re rolling out a feature a lot of you have asked for: you can now complete a background check right from your Kynd Hub profile — and organizations can ask for a cleared check on the events that need one.

For many volunteer roles, especially those working with kids, vulnerable adults, or sensitive settings, a background check is an important part of keeping everyone safe. Here’s how it works.

Get your background check — right from your profile

No outside forms or separate accounts. To get started:

  1. Go to your profile and open the Background Check tab.
  2. Follow the steps to complete your check.
  3. Once it clears, a Background Check badge is added to your profile automatically.

That badge is your green light. You only have to do this once — your cleared status carries across every event on Kynd Hub, so there’s nothing to repeat each time you sign up.

A quick heads-up: background checks can take a little time to process. If you’ve already submitted yours, it may still be clearing behind the scenes — just check back, and your badge will appear once it’s done.

Events can now require a background check

Organizations can now turn on a background check requirement for any event that needs one. When creating or editing an event, organizers will see a new option:

Require a cleared background check to register

When that’s switched on, only volunteers who hold a cleared Background Check badge can sign up. Walk-ins and volunteers an organizer adds by hand aren’t checked automatically — in those cases the organization is verifying the person directly, so that stays in their hands.

What this looks like when you’re signing up

If an event requires a background check, you’ll know right away:

  • Events that need a check show a “Background check required” label on the event card and the event page, so there are no surprises.
  • If you haven’t cleared yet, you’ll see a friendly prompt — with a button to start your background check — in place of the registration form. As soon as your badge is in place, you can register like normal.
  • Already cleared? You won’t notice a thing. You’ll register exactly as you always have.

This is all about making it easier to volunteer with confidence — for you and for the organizations you serve. As always, if you run into any trouble, reach out and we’ll be glad to help.
