What’s New in Kynd Hub Events
We’ve shipped a major update to the events experience on Kynd Hub, with a host of new tools for organizers and a smoother registration flow for volunteers. Here’s a look at what’s new, what’s improved, and what’s been fixed.
Build events that fit how you actually run them
Shift-based events
Running a day with multiple time slots? You can now build a single event with several shifts — each with its own start time, end time, and capacity. Volunteers pick the shift (or shifts) that work for them, and each one fills up independently.
- One event, multiple time windows
- Per-shift capacity, so a morning slot can fill while the afternoon stays open
- Rosters group everyone by shift, so check-in stays organized
Drop-in events
Not every opportunity needs a fixed date and a sign-up sheet. Drop-in events let you post ongoing or come-anytime opportunities without registration — perfect for flexible, recurring volunteer needs.
Recurring events
Set an event to repeat daily, weekly, or monthly and let Kynd Hub generate the upcoming occurrences for you. Each occurrence gets its own fresh set of spots, so capacity resets cleanly every time.
Duplicate an event
Re-running something you’ve done before? Duplicate any event to copy its details into a new draft, then tweak and publish. No more rebuilding from scratch.
Delegate and grow your team
Event Managers
Nonprofits and companies can now assign individual Kynd Hub users as Event Managers. Managers can create and manage events on behalf of your organization — and your org always stays the credited host. Add or remove managers anytime from your organizer dashboard.
Volunteer orientations
Build step-through orientations that volunteers complete before they register for the first time. Add welcome content, text, video, images, and a confirmation step with agreement checkboxes. Once a volunteer completes an orientation, it’s marked done for good — they won’t see it again.
Attach an orientation to any event with a single toggle on the event form.
A clearer, friendlier experience for volunteers
Smoother registration
The registration flow now guides volunteers through exactly what they need: party size, attendee details, any required orientation, and the right waiver — all in one clean form.
Multi-attendee RSVPs
Volunteers can register a group in one go, adding a name, email, and age for each attendee.
Two-tier waivers
Waivers are now flexible and reusable. Your organization can save a default waiver once and have it apply automatically to every event, with the option to override it on individual events when needed.
Better tools on event day
Check-in, check-out, and automatic hours
Organizers can check volunteers in and out right from the roster, and hours are calculated automatically on check-out — no manual math.
Walk-ins and manual registration
Someone showed up without signing up? Add a walk-in on the spot and check them in instantly. Need to register an existing Kynd Hub member yourself? Search and register them directly from the roster — and it’s shift-aware, too.
Cancel an event cleanly
When plans change, you can cancel an event without deleting it. Cancelled events are clearly badged and move to your Past tab, while the roster stays intact for your records.
Find events your way
Map view
Browse opportunities on an interactive map. Move the map and tap Search this area to filter events by location, or use Use my location to find what’s nearby.
A redesigned calendar view
The calendar got a refresh that makes it cleaner and far more useful:
- Dot markers instead of crowded title labels — days with events now show a simple dot (with a count when there’s more than one), so busy months stay easy to scan.
- Tap a day to see the details — clicking any date opens a card list right below the calendar, showing every event on that day with the same familiar card layout used elsewhere.
- See your whole schedule — the calendar now loads all upcoming events, so months further out display correctly instead of appearing empty.
Under-the-hood fixes and polish
A round of behind-the-scenes work makes everything feel snappier and more reliable:
- Buttons and forms respond reliably — resolved a script-loading issue that could leave interactive elements unresponsive on cached pages.
- Cleaner mobile experience — registration forms, rosters, and listings have been tuned for phones and smaller screens.
- Accurate shift times everywhere — fixed a display quirk so shift time ranges show correctly on event pages and rosters.
- Smarter event forms — capacity is now calculated automatically for shift events, and fields that don’t apply (like default hours or waivers on drop-in events) stay hidden to keep things simple.
- Tidied-up styling — consolidated and cleaned the visual styling for a more consistent look across every event view.
